MRF Research Proposals

In January, 2002 the Motorcycle Riders Foundation was invited to submit research proposals related to pressing transportation research needs. According to the Call for Research Needs Statements the MRF received, "Every five years, AASHTO (American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), FHWA (Federal Highway Administration), the North Carolina State University CTE (Center for Transportation and the Environment), and TRB conduct a Transportation Environmental Research Needs Conference. Environmental research experts are invited to meet, identify top research needs, and write up detailed Research Needs Statements. These are then published in a report that becomes the primary source for funded research proposals. Millions of dollars of important environmental research has resulted from these conferences. The next is being held in March 2002. Prior to the conference, draft research needs statements are invited from the transportation community."

In response, the MRF Board appointed a committee to draft relevant proposals. The following four research proposals were submitted in February, 2002 by the MRF for consideration. To view any of these research proposals in its entirety, simply click on the title.
