The Motorcycle Riders Foundation is pleased to report that HR 1076 will be marked up by the US House Committee on Energy and Commerce tomorrow September 17th at 10 AM. The legislation to close the loophole that allows insurance companies to refuse payment for an injury that happens on a motorcycle will be marked up in open session along with ten other bills in the Rayburn House Office Building.

HR 1076 is expected to pass favorably, however anything can happen in a markup. In order to ensure swift clean passage we are asking you to contact your Member of Congress IF they are a Member of the Energy and Commerce Committee. That list follows this email.

This Committee action is the most important legislative activity since the full Senate passed a version of this bill in late winter, 2005.  We thank Chairman Dingell, HR 1076 sponsors, co sponsors and their staff for their attention to this very important matter.

The MRF will keep you informed on any future developments of this legislation.

rights organization to establish a full-time presence in Washington, DC, the Motorcycle Riders Foundation is the only Washington voice devoted exclusively to the street rider. The MRF proudly claims state motorcyclists' rights organizations and the very founders of the American riders' rights movement among its leading members. The MRF is involved in federal and state legislation and regulations, motorcycling safety education, training, and public awareness. The MRF provides members and state motorcyclists' rights organizations with direction and information, and sponsors annual regional and national educational seminars for motorcyclists rights activists, as well as publishing a bi-monthly newsletter, THE MRF REPORTS.
