#04NR22 – MRF Conferences Re-Charge Batteries!
The Motorcycle Riders Foundation’s (MRF) 2004 BEAST of the East conference in Canandaigua, New York was a huge success! The record-setting 202 attendees from Canada, Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Washington and West Virginia enjoyed the wide variety of informative seminars and networking with fellow freedom fighters, as well as visiting with old friends and making new ones. The MRF would like to send a great big “thank you” to the fine folks from ABATE of New York for all their help in making this year’s BEAST of the East an event that everyone will remember!
MRF Vice President of Government Relations Jeff Hennie brought all BEAST of the East attendees up to date with the MRF’s extensive legislative agenda. “It was great to meet the leaders of the motorcyclists’ rights movement who attended the BEAST and experience the passion that drives them,” said Jeff. “I’m really looking forward to both BEST of the West and the Meeting of the Minds.”
The MRF’s 2004 BEST of the West conference will be held June 11-13 at the Parkway Plaza Hotel in Casper, Wyoming. Pre-registration must be received no later than May 20, so REGISTER TODAY if you have not already done so! Hotel reservations must also be made by May 20 to get the MRF group rate. The 20th Annual MRF Meeting of the Minds conference will be held September 23-26 at the Renaissance Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri. Complete conference information for both BEST of the West and Meeting of the Minds, including registration, can be found on our website at www.mrf.org/events.php.
Don’t forget to send in your SMRO’s nominations for the MRF Young Activist Scholarship! Rider activists have recognized for some time that there is a need to encourage younger people to become involved in motorcyclists' rights. To that end, the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) recently created a scholarship fund to recognize deserving candidates under the age of 31 who otherwise may not be able to attend the MRF's Meeting of the Minds conference. Nominations for the MRF Young Activist Scholarship will be accepted from either state or local state motorcyclists' rights organization (SMRO) groups, and must be submitted on an MRF-approved application form. You can visit the MRF website at www.mrf.org/yascholarship.php for a printable form in either text or pdf format. Nominations must be submitted by July 15 to be considered for the 2004 Meeting of the Minds conference.
The MRF has dedicated a limited amount of seed money to the Young Activist Scholarship fund to get things rolling. We are looking for additional contributions from individuals, national, state and local organizations and businesses that would like to participate in the program. You can visit the MRF website at www.mrf.org/yascholarship.php to make an on-line donation to the MRF Young Activist Scholarship Fund. Checks made out to the MRF Young Activist Scholarship Fund can be sent to: MRF Young Activist Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1808, Washington, DC 20013.
We hope to see all of you at the MRF’s BEST of the West and Meeting of the Minds conferences this year!
