#04NR17 - URGENT CALL TO ACTION: Contact Your Congressman About TEA LU!

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) has learned that H.R. 3550, "The Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy For Users" (TEA LU), will go to the floor as early as this Wednesday, March 31, for a vote of the full U.S. House of Representatives. As we announced, all of the MRF's motorcycle safety initiatives are included in TEA LU, which passed by a unanimous vote in the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee late last week. Contact your Congressman TODAY to solicit his/her support of the MRF's motorcycle safety initiatives in Section 2009 of TEA LU!

When you contact your Congressman, be sure to specify the section number of H.R. 3550 you support (Section 2009) and tell him/her that the MRF's motorcycle safety initiatives:

- Are based on the "National Agenda for Motorcycle Safety;"

- Are strongly supported by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee;

- Make crash prevention the priority focus for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's motorcycle safety programs;

- Establish a Motorcyclist Advisory Council in the Federal Highway Administration to ensure dialogue between riders and design engineers on topics such as crash barriers and road maintenance practices, some of which are hazardous to riders; and

- Launch the first Motorcycle Safety Incentive Grant to encourage as well as assist states in delivering rider skill training.

To find your Congressman's contact information, simply go to www.house.gov and enter your zip code. Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of motorcycle safety history!
